PLANET SWEET RECORDS LOVES THE UK!
Here is yet another great review from the United Kingdom!
Thank you Andy Paul!
Andy Paul’s CD review:
Pamela Moore is forever linked with one of the iconic rock moments of the late 1980’s for her role as Sister Mary in Queensryche’s magnum opus "Operation Mindcrime", a role she fufills live still. I recall an album with Toronto-esque melodic rockers Radar and still have it somewhere, but otherwise her output has been somewhat limited, which in view of her talent is disappointing but probably says more about the music business than anything else.
In tandem with Benjamin Anderson, Moore has created a mood scape which allows the listener to "see" the shadows sketching their cinematic way over the blue room over the course of a day, blending hard rock, ambient, pop, and even a hint of Broadway into a recipe that leaves most of the rest of the musical world trailing a long way behind.
We touch on regret and reflection in the hypnotic "Ordinary Day" while "Forever in my dreams" sees Moore baring her soul ragged while the hook is akin to TSO. Of course it is to be expected that Queensryche may figure but their shadow does not loom large, thought Michael Wilton puts in an appearance on "Take me down" and Neil Kernon produces, but the reference points if you must have them are akin to the atmospherics of Geoff Tate’s solo album, along with Dalbello, Peter Gabriel ,Dive, and the electronica and inventiveness of Laurie Anderson. Granted the bare boned humanity of "Dive into me" does nod at "Tribe" era Queensryche but it remains a great song.
Along with the aforementioned messrs Wilton and Kernon, Berlin singer Terri Nunn and Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis lend their talents to a crafted foundation for Moore’s vision and and voice, which remains one of the finest this scribbler has ever heard, capable of power and haunting softness within a single breath. Pamela Moore is a great.
In the end one’s overriding impression of "Stories from a Blue Room" is of a talent emerging into the light having written the soundtracks for one of the great film noir that has yet to be made.
Probably the best album of 2007 so far.
90/100 Andy Paul.

Pamela Moore - Stories From A Blue Room
Pamela Moore is best known for her role as Sister Mary in Queensryche’s legendary ’Operation Mindcime’, a role she still fulfills in a live capacity to this day. Outside of this, her output has been limited to say the least. Two solo albums in the early 80’s prior to Mindcrime and a melodic rock project under the name of Radar are all this talented singer has put her name to thus far.
Stories From A Blue Room is her latest offering and the Queensryche connection is still in evidence, with a guest appearance from Michael Wilton and an incredible production job from Neil Kernon. Add to this her ability to effortlessly produce the vocal light and shade that Geoff Tate is so renowned for and you might be lead to believe that she is taking the easy route by recreating the sound of her mentors. Not so, as the song-writing duo of Pamela Moore and Benjamin Anderson have blended pop, rock, ambient electronics (anyone remember Swedish aor/pop rockers Dive?) and metal to create something quite unique. The metal element is provided by Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis, who is a revelation. The riffs punctuate rather than dominate and the solo’s are blissfully melodic reminding me at times of both Neal Schon and Ian Crichton. The songs themselves have a dark, hypnotic quality and the running order is absolutely spot on with each track flowing seemlessly into the next.
I have listened to the album a dozen times already and am struggling to find a flaw amongst the 49 minutes. If I were pushed to pick favourites then the emotive couplet of Forever In My Dreams and Feel Your Heart immediately spring to mind or perhaps the intense hard rock of Dive Into Me or maybe the simple melodic refrain of Cross My Heart or... get the picture?
It is too early to pick my album of the year, but SFABR will be right up there as everything about the album is spot on from the song-writing and musicianship through production and packaging. Yes, I like it.
Regards
Simon

MUSIC NOTES ...
* Pamela Moore, a rock ’n’ roll transplant from Seattle, Wash. to Schererville, can be seen and heard prominently in the brand new 2-disc DVD set "Queensryche: Live At The Moore" (Rhino Video).
During 2006 and most of this year, Moore has been out on tour with the popular heavy prog-rock group, reprising her famous role in Queensryche’s landmark rock opera, "Operation Mindcrime." Since 1988, when the first half of the Mindcrime saga was debuted, Moore has portrayed "Sister Mary," a former teenage prostitute and drug addict turned Catholic nun who gets brutally murdered.
The newly released DVD features the entire Mindcrime saga performed live on stage during a 2006 hometown Seattle performance with the group at The Moore Theatre.

PAMELA MOORE JOINS VOICE CAST OF ROCK DAWGZ
When you think of female rock vocals there is one name that comes to mind in the world of hard rock, PAMELA MOORE. Pamela is probably best known for her work on the historic rock albums for QUEENSRYCHE - OPERATION MINDCRIME I and II. A solo artist in her own right Pamela has released albums on her own that showcase even more of her diverse talent. A fan of cartoons, Pamela has been tapped to be the voice of TOOKA one of the animated stars of ROCK DAWGZ created by RUDY SARZO. "Pamela came to mind one day when I was thinking what female rocker could fit this role?" states co-creator and Executive Producer Robbie Robfogel. "I knew she was a personal friend of Rudy’s and that she is a vocalist with an angelic voice so I started talking to her to see if she would be interested." Interested was an understatement since Pamela has had a dream of being a voice actor for sometime. "It was kind of a natural thing when you really look at it" said Robfogel. Pamela will play the role of TOOKA the Lead Guitarist for "BONE WORTHY" a metal band of DAWGZ seeking out the big time while starting out on the Sunset Strip in 1980’s Hollywood.
Check out all the ROCK DAWGZ pages at http://www.myspace.com/rockdawg1!
In other dealings with Pamela, she recently found out about my work with the DONATE LIFE ROCKS orginazation and has offered to come in and record a duet with me for this great cause. To think that I am going to get to sing with one of the best female voices in rock is not only shocking to me, but goes to show that when my life was saved two years ago by an organ donor, there was a plan all along. Having fronted a metal band in LA in the 80’s and having put singing aside for many years, it wasnt until after my transplant that I got back into singing and now I get to do it with the best! This will be a seperate song from the one that I will be recording with Rudy Sarzo, Tommy Asakawa, Ronny North, Steve Lynch and Kurt Koppel, but I know that whatever Pamela and I decide on it will be great and it is all to help spread awareness of DONATE LIFE.
All of this is to help promote the DONATE LIFE ROCKS Concert that will take place in July on the 19th and 20th in conjunction with The Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios.
Check back soon for more info on the song that Pamela and I will end up doing.

Anarchy Music recently conducted an interview with QUEENSRYCHE frontman Geoff Tate. Kudos to Geoff Tate for giving our Pamela a glowing review! You truly are a class act Geoff!
Here are a few excerpts from the chat:
Anarchy Music: We really like how you guys do your meet-and-greets, where fans really get a chance to talk with you guys. What’s been the response so far to "Mindcrime II" and what’s been the most memorable comment so far?
Geoff: Well, people are really liking the show a lot. I think that what I’m hearing is that there’s quite a lot to the show, so people are wanting to see it multiple times in order to fully understand it and appreciate it. So some people get it right away. It’s like making a record, in a sense. As a writer, you try to be pretty direct with what you’re doing, you try to make it interesting, but at the end of the day, people interpret things in different ways. There’s no way around it. They take in information at diferent levels. I think one of the things about this show that’s cool is that it’s one that you can appreciate on a number of different levels. You can appreciate it from a musical standpoint, strictly. I think you can appreciate it from a musical performance standpoint. You can appreciate it as a nod towards theater. We had a really nice write-up in the Jacksonville newspaper about the show that said it was on par with most things you’d see on Broadway now. That’s a really nice compliment, which is what we were trying to go for which was making it an interesting delivery of music and theater together. So people are getting it. They like the fact that it’s very complex and also that they can follow the storyline and they’re forgetting in a sense that they’re at a rock concert and they’re watching the show and they’re relating to it and following the characters sort of unraveling and theyre understanding that which is good. That’s the first of most importance is that they follow and relate to the character.
Anarchy Music: When you write a song, can you tell, okay, this is a Geoff Tate solo song or this is for QUEENSRYCHE? What’s the thought process there?
Geoff: I pretty much write for the project. I get an idea in mind and I focus on that idea and what it’s going to develop into. Before I even make any plans, I pretty much know what I’m going to do, as far as what the goal is. Right now I’m completely involved neck-deep in another project that’s a completely outside project from QUEENSRYCHE and it’s not a solo project at all. It’s a project thats kind of a dramatic presentation that’s similiar to what we are doing with ’Mindcrime’ but it involves different people and diferent musicians outside of the band. So, I’m kind of neck-deep in that. That’ll probably be the next release that I’m involved with. So, my writing at the moment is really directed towards that and finishing that up and rounding it out.
Anarchy Music: Any plans on utilizing Pamela Moore’s vocals on upcoming albums (Pamela plays the role of Sister Mary in the "Operation Mindcrime" saga)?
Geoff: I hope so. I love working with Pamela. She’s a great singer and I think she’s one of the best female singers out there. I just love her voice, the sound of it. She can get very very strong and she’s got a lot of emotion in her delivery, and I think she’s turned out to be quite a good actress as well. She puts a lot of herself into the role, and I like that about her. Plus she’s a trooper. She gets up there even if she’s feeling ill and really lets it go. She’s always commendable, she not a prissy type person at all.
